Quezon Del Sur

Although I am not living in Quezon but stil gusto ko parin malaman ang mga ngyayari dun. And of the article I’ve read buko sa article ni Sir Cadeliña (http://nelcadelina.blogspot.com/) is this message from Rep. Tanada. Please read and comment.

eto ay mula kay 4th District Representative Tanada:

Mensahe

God helps those who help themselves.

Pacquiao says his chances vs De la Hoya are improving

World Boxing Council (WBC) Lightweight Champion Manny Pacquiao said his training at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California is beginning to heat up with only a few weeks away from the much-awaited December 6 “Dream Match” against Oscar de la Hoya.

“Habang lumalamig po dito sa Los Angeles, siya namang painit nang panit sa loob ng Wild Card gym ni coach Freddie Roach para sa paghahanda nating lahat sa laban,” Pacquiao said in his column Kumbinasyon which was posted on Philboxing.com.

Included in his training regimen is his uphill jog to Los Angeles’s Griffith Park, where he usually does his laps each time he prepares for an upcoming fight.

Pacquiao added that he still has to undergo numerous rounds of sparring to complete his training.

The Filipino has already put himself to the test by sparring with super welterweight Rashad Holloway. The 5’10″ fighter hired by Roach tried to mimic de la Hoya’s move and to condition Pacquiao against a bigger opponent.

After the sparring, Halloway said ‘Pacman’ “is too fast and very strong. I felt those body shots.”

Pacquiao also said that the fight fans’ waiting time for the Dream Match won’t take that long.

“Hindi natin mamamalayan at ilang tulog na lang ang December 6, na siyang araw ng sagupaan namin ni Golden Boy” he said.

De la Hoya prepares self for the ‘best Pacquiao’

The “Golden Boy” himself is making his own preparations as he trains to fight the best version of Pacquiao.

Eric Gomez, the vice-president of de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions (GBP), said the Mexican-American is motivated to train hard.

“Oscar’s preparing to fight the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He’s getting ready with everything in mind, I mean, ‘he’s gonna hit me in the body, my face, anywhere so I gotta prepare for that,’ so stuff like that doesn’t bother him. He’s a veteran,” Gomez said in a report posted on SportsNews.ph.

The incisive Gomez even likened Pacquiao to Marvin Hagler, one of the greatest southpaw fighters of the sport.

“Obviously, Oscar believes he is fighting one of the best southpaws in the history of boxing in Manny Pacquiao. You can put Manny’s name up there with Marvin Hagler,” Gomez said.

“You’re dealing with an Oscar now that’s not in his prime. He’s still good and he can still compete at a high level, but he’s not in his prime anymore,” Gomez added.

Gomez also said de la Hoya is focused on preparing against a fighter whom he believes has the skills to humiliate him inside the ring.

“Oscar has all of Manny’s fights. Oscar’s going to expect the best possible Manny. Oscar’s throwing out that ‘he’s too little’ and stuff like that, he’s throwing that out of the window,” he said.

Obama wins US election

Americans elected Democrat Barack Obama as their first black president Tuesday, in a transformational election which will reshape US politics and reposition the United States on the world stage.

Obama, 47, will be inaugurated the 44th US president on January 20, 2009, and inherit an economy mired in the worst financial crisis since the 1930s, two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and a nuclear showdown with Iran.

Television networks projected his victory over Republican John McCain after Senator Obama solidified traditional Democratic states and cut deep into the Republican territory which his rival needed to control to win the White House.

Obama’s historic inauguration will complete a stunning ascent to the pinnacle of US and global politics from national obscurity just four years ago and close an eight year era of turbulence under President George W. Bush.

He will take office with Democrats holding a monopoly in power in Washington, after an epochal election which sparked a rare generational and political realignment and finally snuffed out an era of Republican control.

Obama is promising to renew bruised ties with US allies, and to engage some of the most fierce US foes like Iran and North Korea. He has vowed to pass tackle climate change and provide health care to all Americans.

His presidency also marks a stunning cultural shift, with Obama, the son of Kenyan father and white mother from Kansas, the first African American president of a nation still riven by racial divides.

When he launched his campaign on a chilly day in Illinois in February 2007, Obama forged a mantra of change which powered him throughout the longest, most costly US presidential campaign in history.

With a stunning grassroots political movement, powered by massive multi-million dollar fundraising, Obama first beat Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic Party’s then preeminent political machine.

Obama strode towards victory on Tuesday by capturing the states of Pennsylvania, the key battleground which McCain needed to win to keep his long-shot hopes of victory alive.

In a sweet moment for Democrats, he also seized the midwestern battleground of Ohio and captured New Mexico and Iowa, two states won by Bush in 2004 to close out McCain’s possible route towards the White House.

Obama had led national and battleground polls and had capitalized on the fear of Americans pitched into the deep financial crisis, especially as he appeared to be presidential in a string of debates.

McCain had argued that Obama was too inexperienced to be US commander in chief and would pursue “socialist” redistribution policies that would leave the economy mired in recession.

McCain, 72, an Arizona senator, would have been the oldest man ever inaugurated for a first term in the White House.

WBC orders Pacquiao to pay $30,000 or lose title

Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao may be stripped of his World Boxing Council lightweight title if he does not fork out $30,000 within the next 15 days, the WBC said on Thursday.

The boxing body’s governors, who are meeting in Cheng Du, are demanding the fighter pay sanctioning fees they say he owes, or they will take his belt.

“Manny Pacquiao is a great champion and the pride of the WBC. But he believes he is the ruler of the organisation and that is not going to happen,” WBC President Jose Sulaiman said.

“If he doesn’t want to do it, he goes his way and we go our way. He has made a fortune with the WBC. He became famous fighting WBC Champions like Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales and now he’s trying to kick us in the back and send us home. We cannot do that.

“I am very disappointed because he’s a friend, he is the hero of President Arroyo and of the whole country of the Philippines, and I feel very bad because of the way that we’ve been treated. But the phone is there and the door is open.”

Pacquiao must pay $100,000 within 15 days of his fight against Oscar De La Hoya scheduled for December 6, or face the same punishment, the WBC said.
